Bawtry Phoenix Young Players

This group of young people, aged 11 - 18 years, is the youth section of the Bawtry Amateur Dramatic Society. We meet at the theatre every Saturday during school terms from 10.00 - 12.00.
The group is run by Tony Jones (Director), Sarah Cowan (resident drama coach) and Rob Southwick (resident musician).
On Saturday mornings we engage in a variety of activities with the aim of improving drama and singing skills, building confidence and, most importantly, having a good time. We put on two major productions a year, one in December and one in July. We pride ourselves on the high standards of performance and our shows are always sold out.
At present there are nearly forty members, roughly half boys and half girls. We are a friendly, inclusive group and many of the members are friends outside the group as well. There is much ‘Facebook’ activity!
Out greatest asset is our theatre. The children learn, rehearse and perform in a real theatre which we all love and respect. They learn about the way a theatre works, including the technology of sound and lighting, set building and theatre management.
Our fees at this time are - £10 per year membership fee and £20 per school term session fee. This covers about 12 sessions per term. All membership fees and session fees are charged to cover expenses. The Society does not seek to make a profit out of Saturday sessions. We do make a profit from the productions and this makes a useful contribution to Society funds.
