of traditional and contemporary world wide music (Lively fiddling,

Phoenix Folk and Blues Etcetera will be featuring "Jack
and Gill's
Daughter" an exiting acoustic duo with a difference. Jack
Haigh's
incredible percussive ability on guitar has been fused with Gemma Tilly's
background in Jazz and Soul vocals to create something which
is causing a buzz on the Leeds music scene. "Best
of intentions" will, as usual, be warming up the audience
with their unique mix of whatever takes their fancy.

Naked" A Folk trio drawn from all
three corners of Lincolnshire comprising John Blanks on vocals and
guitar, Phil Biggs, vocals, guitar and mandolin and Mark Addison on bass.
All who have heard John will know that we will be in for a treat.
Keith Topham from Epworth
will be providing the contrast with 'something from the writings of Hardy
or some prose and poetry, or maybe some other 19th century bits about
music or country life'.
Best of Intentions will be
opening proceedings. They have not been let out for some time but they will
not bite if the audience throws them a crust.

We shall have a return visit from "Rupert and Henry"

under the title of "Rupert and Henry and the Revolvers", a band
of four playing popular music from Rock to Ballads - some self
penned.

Dewsbury of "Stitherum".

multi-instrumentalist Kate Bilmore, will give the evening a traditional
flavour.

4th Young Acoustic Roots Competition
Young musicians around the country are being offered an
opportunity to develop their performance skills by entering this free
competition. It is open to folk-roots and acoustic musician’s aged 12 to
21 with the winner performing at Cleethorpes Folk Festival and getting a
chance to record a demo with ex-Kerfuffle guitarist Chris Thornton-Smith of
The BPAS Group.
Finalists will now perform as part of the evening concert
at Bawtry which is headlined by nationally recognised singer-songwriter Jez
Lowe. Tickets for the concert are £8 and there will also be a free
afternoon singaround in the bar for anyone who wishes to join in.

| We are pleased to welcome young folk group Kerfuffle. A four piece
instrumental, dance and vocal group they draw their inspiration from both
traditional and contemporary music to create their uniquely appealing sound.
Comprising band members Hannah James (vocals, keyboard, clogging), Sam
Sweeney (fiddle) Tom Sweeney (bass guitar) and Chris Thornton-Smith
(guitar), Kerfuffle were Radio 2 Young Folk Award finalists
2004/05. They have appeared at major UK festivals and won the 'In the
Tradition' award in Derby, 2002. The band released their second album K2 in

Bawtry Phoenix Theatre is pleased to announce that renowned Merseyside Minstrel, Bob Buckle will be making a special appearance at the Theatre on Sunday 10th April.
An instrumentalist, Bob's forte is the banjo (we hear that he taught Billy Connelly to play the instrument).
